When I think of childbirth I’m filled with awe and wonder for the incredible miracle that it is.
I began apprenticing with midwife Leigh Waggoner in 1995 in Northwestern Wisconsin where we lived for 16 years. After 2 years working side by side with Leigh, I caught my first baby under her supervision and continued to gain experience and knowledge from the generous women who allowed me to be a part of their pregnancies and births. I was also enrolled in the Ancient Art Midwifery Institute and traveled abroad as a student with the International School of Midwifery.
In 1998 I began having my own clients and in 1999 Leigh Waggoner stopped going to births and I continued to attend homebirths as a primary midwife. I became a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) in 2005 and licensed by the state of WI in 2007.
In the fall of 2007 my family moved to Madison WI where I earned an associate degree in midwifery.
I’m married to Keith Hatcher, an elementary school teacher and principal, and we have 4 children, Sierra, Naomi, Kelah and Asa.
